Stefano G.V. Vigoriti, Managing Director, MSC Cruises South Africa

Born in Italy, Stefano began his career in Zimbabwe in 1980 where he joined Blue Moon Investments, a hotel and restaurant group.  In 1985 he joined Alitalia South Africa and during his time there managed to record their best ever passengers’ load thereby increasing flights in Johannesburg from twice weekly to once daily. He also worked for Italian freight forwarding group JAS before joining MSC Crociere in 2009 as managing director of the newly formed MSC Cruises South Africa to represent the Aponte and Vago family’s growing interest in the region.  MSC has now become the leading cruise operator in South Africa.

Stefano’s other main interest is football and having enjoyed a brief stint as a professional player in Africa, he is now a familiar face on African TV screens as a football analyst and commentator, as well as being a sports and opinion writer for various Italian newspapers and web magazines including La Gazzetta dello Sport. 

In his spare time, Stefano is involved in voluntary work with two Italian organisations and he still enjoys playing sport.

Stafano is married to Ceilidh and has two children: Isabella who is four and Alessio who is two years old.
