Transnet National Ports Authority

Transnet National Ports Authority [TNPA] is one of five operating divisions of Transnet Limited. TNPA is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective economic functioning of the national ports system in South Africa, which it manages in a landlord capacity.
TNPA owns and manages the eight South African commercial seaports - the ports of Richards Bay, Durban, East London, Ngqura, Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay, Cape Town and Saldanha. Its business is divided mainly in two business segments: (1) the provision of port infrastructure; and (2) maritime services.
Maritime Services include dredging, aids to navigation, ship repairs and marine operations. Port Infrastructure operates in five segments: Containers, dry-bulk, liquid-bulk, break-bulk and automotive. The major commodities handled at the ports are coal, iron ore, containers, automotives, steel, fruit, ferrochrome, petroleum products and manganese.
Situated at the tip of the African continent, the South African ports are in an ideal position to serve shipments from both eastern and western seaboards. Boasting an excellent infrastructure, Transnet National Ports Authority is in a unique position of being able to offer efficient services to port users throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
